When you select Save and next in the Define the New work package screen, the New work package <name of work package> window opens.

General information tab for a construction work package. The fields vary slightly for other work package types.

This window has tabs that you use to view general information, set up schedule and contract information, and include tasks and documents. When you have reviewed and completed the information required in the tabs, click Save. The <Activity type> Work Packages window opens.

General Information tab

Displays the package type, document number, discipline, and activity type. You can select a Status and Construction work area, and add a description and notes. The Related engineering work packages drop down allows you to select an engineering work package to relate to the current work package.

Other fields display on the tab depending on the work package type. For installation work packages, there is a drop down which allows you to include a construction work package. For test work packages, there is a drop down which allows you to assign a Turnover System.

Schedule tab

Allows you to view schedule information. Since it is read-only, you cannot make any changes to the schedule information on this tab.

Personnel

Allows you to select from drop-down lists, the personnel associated with the work package. If you start at the top to fill in the fields, each drop-down menu narrows based on the selections above. If the bottom field is selected first, some of the drop-downs above are filled with the appropriate values. The Planner value is set automatically and cannot be changed from this tab.

Contract tab

(Construction Work Packages only) Allows you to select the name of the contract, the contract status and the contractor.

Tasks tab

Once you create the work package, use ConstructSim Planner to add tasks to the work package. The Tasks tab displays the tasks associated with the work package. This tab allows you to progress the tasks and add actual labor hours and estimated baseline hours.

Documents tab

Displays the documents associated with the work package. When you select Link, the Link files dialog opens with a list of documents you can link to the work package.
